Additional Classroom Resources

Discovering Justice welcomes you to use our free civic education resources to bring discussions of justice, rights, and responsibilities to your classroom. The following activities were designed to coordinate with a Discovering Justice courthouse program, but can be used on their own as well:

  • The Search for Justice Scavenger Hunt (approximately 1.5 class periods): Students use school resources to answer questions about history and justice.
  • Discovering Justice Through Jury Selection (approximately 1 class period): Students participate in a mock jury selection process to learn the importance of an impartial jury and the process of assembling one.
  • Justice Poster (approximately 1 class period): Students work in groups to develop a poster that illustrates a symbol of justice.
  • Speak Your Truth (approximately 1-3 class periods): Students analyze a famous speech about fairness and equality and use it as a model for a persuasive essay on a topic they are passionate about.
